What is Timepiece Assistant?
Timepiece Assistant is an AI helper built directly into the app. You will find it on the main page and inside your Jira gadgets. Instead of clicking through menus or building complex filters, you can just ask it a question in plain English.
The goal is to help you get the reports you need without needing to be an expert in the tool. It understands your workflow and knows how to set up the app for you. Timepiece’s AI Assistant is like a teammate who knows every setting.
How Timepiece Assistant Helps You
Here are a few ways you can use the assistant to save time day-to-day:
It Answers “How-to” Questions
If you aren’t sure which report to use, just ask. For example, if you want to know why a project is moving slowly, the assistant can explain how to use the Status Duration report to find the bottlenecks. It can also explain specific features, like how to hide empty rows so your data looks cleaner.
It Builds Reports For You
This is the most helpful part. You don’t have to set up the report yourself. You can say: “Help me measure Cycle Time for project ABC from In Progress to Done, but don’t count time spent On Hold”.
The assistant will then create a ready-to-use link. When you click it, the report is already configured with the right statuses and filters. And of course, you can always modify the parameters directly within the generated report.
It Handles the Details
Reporting gets messy with weekends or holidays. Timepiece Assistant knows how to apply your custom calendars to find assignee times, track field durations, or analyze trends over months.
Why We Built It
Two main goals: to save you time and to remove the expert barrier.
Jira admins and project managers are busy. You shouldn’t have to spend hours every week digging through data just to find out why a project is late. Timepiece Assistant is meant to take that weight off your shoulders. It’s faster, it’s more accurate, and it lets you get back to your actual work.
We know that “AI” is everywhere right now, but for us, this wasn’t about following a trend. Jira is powerful, but it’s complex. We want to make sure anyone on the team, whether they are a junior developer or a department head, can get honest, accurate data in seconds.
How to Get Started
Timepiece Assistant is already integrated into the app. If you are using the latest version of Timepiece, you can start asking questions now. If you don’t see it, you might need to ask your Jira admin to run a manual update.
